If it takes over 11 days then no result can be provided.Click here for Support Website. If it takes over 8 days to get to our lab then only an estimated result can be provided. If the sampler takes more than a week to arrive at our lab then the test result will not be as accurate as one that arrives within three or four days. We recommend sending samples to the lab as soon as possible in order to get the best results. Readable information is required from all customers otherwise a reprocessing fee may be charged before releasing results. We have thousands of unreturnable test results in our database due to missing or illegible information. Our laboratory has processed over two million radon tests and we have seen almost everything that can happen to a radon test sample. Moisture may reduce the sensitivity of some radon measurement devices. If you must test a damp or humid room with over 55% relative humidity, then test only for the shortest recommended period. Do not test areas with high humidity, such as bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, closets, or damp basements. Do not place a kit near any heat source such as a stove, fireplace, or baseboard heater. Air blowing on or near an activated charcoal sampler may increase its sensitivity to radon. Do not place kits in the same room with any type of operating fan or blower. Keep all test kits or activated charcoal devices within at least 3 feet of each other (except for those performing Quality Control audits or testing for a real estate transactions.). Heat can reduce the sensitivity of some radon measurement devices. Keep test kits out of direct sunlight. Keep test kits at least 3 feet away from doorways, hallways, windows, exterior walls, and heating or air-conditioning vents. A string may be useful to hang the kit from the ceiling or a light fixture. Hanging a kit from an interior non-masonry wall is acceptable as long as the opening is not blocked (with at least 4 inches clearance.). Test kits should be within the normal breathing zone (2 to 6 feet from the floor.). Use one kit per every 2000 square feet of floor space being tested. The preferred method is to hang the kit centrally in the room. It is crucial that each kit is placed where it will not be disturbed. Placement is especially important if conducting only one test or a follow-up test (which would confirm the need for radon mitigation.). The test should be done in the lowest building area that is regularly used ( except for Pennsylvania Citizens that are required to test the lowest livable area of the building.).
